Listen to Obituary

In the tender embrace of our Lord, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Linda Diane Sheek, lovingly known as Bemaw, who gracefully departed from this earthly realm on February 24, 2026. Born on July 10, 1949, Linda was a beacon of love, faith, and devotion, who touched the hearts of all those who knew her.

Linda, the beloved wife of James Sheek, devoted everything in her life to him; he was her everything. Their union was a true testament to the beauty of love, exemplifying loyalty and dedication that inspire all. The family she cherished, including her children—James (Andrea) Sheek II, Faith Sheek-Powell, and Jolina (Scott) Ralph—thrived under her loving guidance. Linda's nurturing spirit flourished in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, a bond reflected in the lives of her grandchildren: Erica, Dylan, Zachary, Kierstin, Kyla, Ashley, Nicholas, and Kaitlyn, as well as her great-grandchildren: Eliza, Oakley, Maverick, Gracyn, Aurora, Lewis, Samuel, Leilah, Jaxton, Charlee, and Lily. Each of them held a precious place in her heart, basking in the warmth of her unconditional love.

Born into the Hamilton family, Linda was preceded in death by her dear daughter, Carlena, and her beloved parents, Wayne and Francis Hamilton. She is survived by her siblings, Debbie, Sherry, Wayne, and David, alongside many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Linda embodied patience, hard work, and a spirit that never wavered even in life's trials. Her faith was unwavering, guiding her through life's challenges. A dedicated worker, she embraced her professions with zeal, achieving remarkable successes, including rescuing several medical practices from financial despair. Her capacity to lend strength to others instead of succumbing to difficulty is a testament to her character and faith.

Moreover, Linda's love for life was evident in her diverse interests. She found joy in attending church services, indulging in antiquing and collecting cherished items, dining at Cracker Barrel, a tradition she shared with her husband since it opened, and honing her culinary arts. Known for her exceptional cooking—whether she meticulously followed a recipe or created culinary masterpieces from scratch—she delighted her loved ones with specialties like sausage rye appetizers and the renowned Robert Redford dessert, which she could make from memory.

A graveside service, a sacred moment for reflection and honor, will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, Indiana, on March 2, 2026, where friends and family shall gather to pay their respects at 1:00 PM.

Linda Diane Sheek's life was a symphony of compassion, dedication, and faith. She will forever remain in our hearts, inspiring each of us to love fiercely and serve faithfully. In her memory, let us carry forth her legacy of warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and faith. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the Lord she so dearly loved. Amen.
