Martha Marshall, a devoted mother, grandmother, and loving member of her Indianapolis community, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026. Born on December 21, 1945, Martha lived a life rich with love, humor, and fierce dedication to her family.
Known as a sweet woman whose kindness was deeply felt by those privileged to be on her good side, Martha was fiercely protective of her sons and grandbabies, always ready to stand strong and advocate for them with unwavering loyalty. Her adoration for her grandchildren was a defining part of who she was, bringing light and joy to their lives and hers alike.
Martha was also a remarkable cook, known for her exceptional dishes made with lard, which imparted a unique and unforgettable flavor to every meal she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and delicious aromas, where family and friends gathered. She cherished her daily coffee ritual, found peace in fishing whenever possible, and enjoyed watching TV, embracing simple pleasures that brought her happiness throughout the years.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence Marshall, her parents William and Mandy Marshall, and her siblings Kathy, Johnny, Murray, Bill, Maggie Jean, and Dellie Jane Church. She also mourned the loss of her great-grandson Zachary Weist and treasured memories of her father-in-law Woodrum Marshall.
She leaves behind a loving and vibrant family who carry forth her legacy. Her sons Bill, Richard, and Grandville Marshall; daughter-in-law Ruth Marshall; and her brother and sister-in-law Troy and Ann Church all hold her memory dear. Among her cherished family are her niece May Little, grandchildren Tammy (Randy) Miller, Sharon (Billy) Weist, Allen (Jasmine) Marshall, Patricia Marshall, and Nathan Marshall, along with her beloved great-grandchildren William Weist, Matthew Weist, Kaiden Marshall, Emily Weist, Colton Marshall, and Veya Marshall. Martha also took joy in being part of the lives of her two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
The family will honor Martha’s life with a visitation on May 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A funeral service will follow on May 30, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM at the same location, concluding at 1:00 PM.
Martha Marshall’s warmth, resilience, and love will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and all whose lives she touched with her generous and caring nature.
