Melissa Sleek

Melissa Sleek, a cherished member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on December 11, 1966, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Melissa's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her vibrant contributions to her local community.

Throughout her career as an order handler at S&B Distributors, Melissa showcased her strong work ethic, embodying the traits of resilience and independence that defined her personality. Known for her nurturing, caring, and loving nature, she touched the lives of many with her empathetic spirit and protective demeanor. Melissa was not only strong and confident, but also creative and social, drawing friends and family into her warmth and charm.

Melissa's educational journey took her through Emmerich Manual High School, which laid the foundation for a life filled with personal growth and meaningful connections. Her interests were diverse; she found joy in gardening, camping, fishing, and music, and loved nothing more than spending quality time with those she held dear. Family cookouts, yard sales, family dinners, and watching soap operas were some of the simple pleasures she cherished deeply.

Melissa leaves behind her beloved children, Brandon Gumm, Jessie Sleek, Cody Sleek, Amanda Sleek, and Brandon Sleek, along with her grandchildren, Jacob Howell, Wesley Gumm, Braiden Sleek, Jessie Sleek, Josh Sleek, Jacobi Sleek, Aubree Sleek, Harper Sleek, Aaron Sleek, Sophia Sleek, and Harley Sleek. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and love into the future.

She also leaves a legacy of love in her siblings, Rebecca Ross, Mark Gordon, and Jim Thompson, as well as other close family members including Craig Kammerer, Amy Melton, Kandi Huffman, and Julia Gumm.

Melissa is predeceased by her parents, Judith Thompson, Jim Thompson, and Doyle Gordon, her husband, Terry Sleek, and family members Steve Gumm and Stephen Gumm. Their memories and impact will forever resonate in the hearts of those she loved.

A visitation will take place on September 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Both services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.

As we mourn the loss of such a vibrant soul, we also celebrate the beautiful memories she created and the love she so effortlessly shared. Melissa Sleek will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
