Melvin Jr Sears

Indianapolis - Melvin JR Sears, 69, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 3:20 pm at University Heights Health and Living. He was born April 11, 1952 to the late William "Red" Sears and Coranna McDonald. Melvin was employed by CMW where he served as a machinist for 39. He loved camping, fishing and cook-outs. Melvin also enjoyed spending time with his family here and his Kentucky family.

Melvin was preceded in death by his mother Coranna McDonald; father, William "Red" Sears; and stepfather, Tommy Knight. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Edith "Liz" Sears; daughter, Tracy and her husband, Jim; sons, Eddie, Tommy and Patrick and Patrick's wife, Devon; sister, Teresa; brother, Rebel Sears and his wife, Lashanda; and step-mom, Marie "Blue" Sears. Also left to cherish his memory are 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 11 am - 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis, IN. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 1 pm at the funeral home with Pastor John Biddle officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 North Holt Road. Indianapolis, IN 46222.
