Peter "Pete" Elliot Heugel

Peter "Pete" Elliot Heugel, 46, of Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on July 27, 2026.

Pete was born in Indianapolis on March 3, 1980. He built a life centered on family, friendship, hard work, and the simple things that brought him happiness.

He met his wife, Heather, on a charity motorcycle ride benefiting veterans, and the two quickly bonded over their shared love of motorcycles and the opportunity to help others. They spent many miles together on the road, taking part in rides that supported causes they believed in and creating memories along the way.

Pete was a hardworking man who took pride in the job he did and the people he worked beside. His coworkers at Caliber Collision became like family, and he earned the respect of those around him through his willingness to work hard and help wherever he could. He was also the kind of friend who could be counted on, whether someone needed a hand, a laugh, or simply someone to ride alongside.

Pete's Catholic faith was an important part of his life. He found comfort in his faith, believed in helping others when he could, and carried that belief with him throughout his life. Those who knew Pete find peace in believing he has been welcomed into the arms of the Lord.

Pete had a special love for Labrador Retrievers. His two black Labs, Oscar and Bear, were more than pets. They were family, and it brings comfort to imagine them greeting him once again. His chocolate Lab, Leo, remains behind, faithfully watching over the family and offering comfort to those who loved Pete.

Pete also enjoyed spending time on the ball field, coaching youth baseball and softball. He appreciated the chance to encourage young players, teach the game, and celebrate their successes.

Pete is survived by his wife, Heather Heugel; his son, CJ; his daughter, Ava Dean; his father, Ken Hayes; his best friend, Travis "Trickster" John; his work family at Caliber Collision; and many other friends who will miss him dearly.

Pete will be remembered for his love of riding, his strong work ethic, his unwavering loyalty to his friends, and the many memories he created with the people who knew him best. Though he is gone far too soon, those memories will continue to bring comfort to everyone fortunate enough to have shared part of life's journey with him.
