Listen to Obituary

Richard “Rick” Allen DeLoach, 58, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after suffering a heart attack the day before.

Rick was born on November 3, 1966, in Indianapolis, to Robert DeLoach, Sr., and the late Barbara (Conover) DeLoach. Rick was a 1985 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and later ITT Technical Institute, where he earned an associate degree in electronics engineering. Rick loved his job of almost seven years as a Service Engineer with QSI, Inc. He also worked for many years at Comcast.

Rick grew up on the near-east side of Indianapolis, IN, with two amazing parents and his three incredible older siblings. Rick was a loyal and loving son and brother who would have dropped everything to help and support family members. Rick felt fortunate that his childhood neighborhood was full of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Rick often shared the many happy memories of his youth.

Rick spent more than 37 years by the side of his loving wife, Susie (Toth) DeLoach. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Joey and Jake DeLoach. Rick couldn’t have been prouder of his boys. As a husband and father, Rick was protective, faithful, loving, and so very much fun. He was an extraordinary, hands-on dad and supportive friend to his sons. Rick loved Joey’s girlfriend, Maria, and Jake’s girlfriend, Mabel, and was so happy his boys found such great partners.

Family members and friends appreciated Rick’s dry sense of humor and his quick wit. He was the funniest person we all knew. He had a gregarious energy with those he loved, and when Rick cared about someone, he loved them completely. Rick loved to poke fun at people. The more he loved you, the more he messed with you!

Rick was a music lover and especially loved classic rock, old country, and 70’s singer/songwriter tunes that reminded him of growing up with his older siblings. He spent hours upon hours listening to music with his wife and sons while having a few beers and cooking on the grill. He loved the holidays and always started playing Christmas music way too early for his wife’s liking. Rick enjoyed building Legos and putting puzzles together while watching old shows like The Rockford Files. He was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Fever.

Rick is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susie (Toth) DeLoach, son Joseph (Maria) DeLoach, son Jacob (Mabel) DeLoach, father Robert DeLoach, Sr., brother Robert (Tina) DeLoach, Jr., sister Debbie (Dan) Lindsey, brother and best friend David DeLoach, mother-in-law Sharon Walker, step-mother-in-law Angela Toth, sister-in-law Sarah (Jon) Kern, brother-in-law David Toth, uncle Bill Conover, aunt Ellie (Jim) Jones, and aunt Norma (Steve) Gibson. Rick is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Rick was particularly close with cousin-in-law and close friend Barry Gorman, cousin Chrissy (Scott) Wang, cousin Ann Marie (Jason) Adams, and longtime coworker and friend Larry (Tammy) Pickens.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother Barbara DeLoach, maternal grandparents William and Edna Conover, paternal grandparents Jesse and Lucinda DeLoach, cousins Cindy Gorman and Jimmy DeLoach, uncle Jim DeLoach, uncle Joe DeLoach, aunt Patty, uncle Jerry, and cousin Gary Tennant, aunt Sharon and uncle Ed Tinsley, aunt Nora and uncle Paul Feeney, baby cousin Noah Rouse, aunt Frankie, father-in-law Dave Toth, step-father-in-law Marshall Walker, and sister-in-law Marianne Weis. Rick was also preceded in death by his loyal and loving dog, Winston, his buddy.

A memorial service for Rick will be held Saturday, September 27 at 3 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. Friends may gather for visitation from 1 pm until the time of the service. A celebration of life will follow the service on Saturday at 4:30 pm at the Greenwood Memorial VFW located at 1842 Veterans Way Greenwood, IN 46143.

Rick will be terribly missed. We’ll never forget his big smile that always lit up a room, and his boisterous laughter will always echo in our hearts. The strength and love he instilled in his wife and sons will help them get through the pain until they can be with him again. A big heart like Rick’s doesn’t die; it lives on in all who knew him.
