Ricky Jenkins, a beloved son, cousin, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on October 9, 1999, in Cookville, Tennessee, Ricky was known for his good heart and feisty spirit, qualities that endeared him to those who loved him.
Throughout his life, Ricky cultivated diverse interests that reflected his energetic and engaged nature. He found joy in mowing the lawn and was an avid participant in sports such as basketball, football, and wrestling. Additionally, he enjoyed playing video games, a pastime through which he connected with friends and family. His commitment to service included two years in ROTC, demonstrating his dedication and discipline.
Ricky’s family was central to his life. He was cherished by his mother, Peggy (Dennis Sherfick) Jordan, and surrounded by a close-knit circle of relatives in Indianapolis and beyond. Among his living family members are his aunt, Judy Cone, cousin Randy Miller, cousin Tammy Miller, cousin, Patricia Marshall, aunts Ruth Marshall, and Diane (Kevin) Klose, as well as grandparents Sharon and Donald Skaggs. He was also loved by many cousins: Allen (Jasmine) Marshall, Nathan Marshall, Colton Marshall, Sharon (Billy) Weist, Teresa, Janice, Matthew, William, Matthew and Emily Weist, Kaiden, Veah Marshall, Shirley Skaggs, and Amanda. His uncle Bill Marshall and aunt Becky Skaggs were also part of his extended support network.
Ricky was preceded in death by many relatives who left a lasting legacy, including his father, Ricky Jenkins II, He also mourned the loss of uncles David Skaggs, JC Skaggs, Eddie Skaggs, Fred Skaggs, Leslie Krebs, and Chester Skaggs, aunt, Charlotte Skaggs, along with his cousin Zachary Weist and great-grandparents Leslie Krebs, Betty Krebs, Betty Skaggs, and Regual Skaggs. These family members shaped the tapestry of Ricky’s heritage and are remembered with deep respect.
A funeral service for Ricky will be held Wednesday, April 22 at 1 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions located at 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis 46227. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery. Friends may gather for visitation from 3 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, April 18 at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of the service on Wednesday.
Ricky Jenkins’s life was one marked by love, spirited determination, and meaningful connections. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him and held a special place in their hearts. His memory endures in the lives of his family and friends, who remember him as a good person with those he loved, whose feistiness was a testament to his vibrant character. May he rest in peace.
