Listen to Obituary

Robert Depew, known by family and friends as “Rabbit” and lovingly re-nicknamed as “Thumper” by his stepdaughters passed away March 3rd surrounded by those who loved him.

He is survived by his partner in life, Donna; his stepdaughters, Crystal and Kimberly (Joshua); his cherished grandchildren, Brooklyn, William, Michael, Owen, and Eddie, his brothers Leo and James, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Betty (Arthur), and sisters Linda, Susan, and Pam.

Rabbit was a man who always looked out for the comfort and well-being of those around him. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He was always ready to offer a helping hand and was often the first call when someone needed help. Without hesitation, he would show up, never expecting anything in return.

His kindness and gentle nature drew people to him, especially children. As the saying goes, children always know who the good people are and they were naturally drawn to him. With nothing more than an outstretched hand and a warm smile, a child would happily follow along, trusting the goodness they could clearly feel.

Rabbit was also known for his quiet humility and the way he spoke about others. He never had a bad word to say about anyone, choosing instead to meet the world with patience and kindness.

He will be remembered for his big heart, his steady presence, and the love and care he so freely gave to his family and everyone fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
