With heavy hearts yet grateful spirits, we reflect on the long and remarkable life of Robert C Wurster, known fondly to many as Bob, who departed this world on July 1, 2026 at the age of 95. Born on October 11, 1930, Robert was a beacon of warmth and steadfastness to all who knew him.
Robert’s journey through life was etched with kindness and devotion. The memories he created touched lives far beyond the boundaries of family, reaching into a community that now mourns his absence. Those closest to him remember a man of gentle strength, unwavering honesty, genuine compassion, and unfailing loyalty, always ready with a welcoming smile and a listening ear.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He often reflected with pride on his time in the service, including the distinction of crossing the Equator three times while serving at sea. His military service exemplified the sense of duty, commitment, and perseverance that remained hallmarks of his character throughout his life.
Bob's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He faithfully served his church and school in a variety of roles, quietly giving of his time and talents for many years. His dedication to his faith and his willingness to serve others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Bob was blessed with the love and companionship of Beverly West, who survives him, along with beloved nieces who will forever cherish their uncle’s guidance, humor, and support. The circle of family, though changed by time and loss, remains close-knit and continually nourished by the lessons and love passed down from Robert.
As we honor his memory, we also remember his parents, Marguerite and Clarence Wurster, his beloved sister Anna Marie Wurster Moeller, and his brother James Wurster, all of whom preceded him in passing. Their spirits no doubt welcomed Robert with loving arms, reuniting a family whose bond transcends time.
The family invites all who knew and cared for Robert to join in a heartfelt farewell. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10th, from 10:00 to 12:00 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6111 Shelby St, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 at the same location, a chance for friends and loved ones to gather, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery.
Through his many years, Robert C Wurster wove a tapestry of love, service, and deep-rooted faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts he touched—a reminder that a life filled with quiet acts of kindness leaves an enduring mark on the world. Though he has left our sight, his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
