Ronald Dean VanAtta, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Indianapolis on September 8, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on January 31, 1960 to the late Robert VanAtta and Dorothy Jean Gibson Daubenspeck in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ronald was a man who touched the lives of many through his, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Ronald’s journey began at Emmerich Manual High School, where he laid the foundation a life dedicated to hard work and family values. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, a testament to his sense of duty and commitment to the ideals he held dear.
For many years, Ronald worked as a machine operator at Eckhart, contributing not only to his workplace but also embodying the spirit of dedication that defined his career. Beyond his professional endeavors, Ronald was known for his vibrant personality. He had an exceptional ability to make people laugh and smile, filling the lives of those around him with joy and warmth. As a loving father, brother, and grandfather, Ronald reveled in the moments spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Ronald had a variety of interests that brought him happiness, including visits to the casino, playing cards, and watching sporting events. However, his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his loved ones, fostering relationships that were deep and meaningful.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Lynn VanAtta; his beloved daughters, Telisha VanAtta, Sierra Benford, and Shanna VanAtta; and his cherished grandchildren, Robert VanAtta, Ronald VanAtta, Elijah Benford, Eliana Benford, and Emelia Benford. Ronald will also be fondly remembered by his siblings Robert VanAtta, Roberta McPeak, Charles VanAtta, Keith VanAtta, and Dawn Stuckey.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Robert VanAtta and his wife, Donna; his mother, Dorothy Daubenspeck and her husband, Richard; his brother, Dennis Hylton; and his son, Ronald VanAtta. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, laughter, and devotion to family, ensuring that his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
