With heavy hearts and fond memories, we gather to honor the life of Sandra “Sandy” Slone, who peacefully left this world on February 8, 2026, just a week after her beloved husband, Larry, took his final bow. Born on June 15, 1951, Sandy was a vibrant spirit who graced our lives with laughter and love, a beacon of strength and sass that will be missed dearly.
Known for her quick wit and fierce opinions. She was, in every sense of the word, a strong-willed woman whose convictions shaped her into the person we all loved. She was incredibly selfless and generous with her family. Her laughter was infectious, and she had a unique ability to lighten any room, whether it was while relaxing on the porch with a cigarette in hand and a diet Pepsi, or with a group of friends at a quilting bee.
Sandy’s journey began in a strong family where she was born the daughter of Charles Leonard and Betty Jean Byrns. She was quite the spirited youth but transformed into an extraordinarily talented quilter, creating beautiful pieces that represented her loving nature. She found joy in attending auctions, garage sales, and yard sales—always on the lookout for hidden treasures. Sandy, Muffy to her husband, had a special love for the Bird House on the River, a destination that filled her with happiness and the simple pleasures of life.
Above all, Sandy cherished her family, and she especially loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. They were her greatest accomplishment. Sandy leaves behind her children, Leslie (Dennis) Walters, Stephanie (Denton) Gross, and Gene (Renee) Slone, who will forever hold her memory close. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren—Gabriel, Jordan, Olivia (Lara), Reese, Ryder, Adam, Madisson, Hannah, Allison (Josh), Alexandra (Terry), Denton, Dylan, Mercedes, and Kayla—as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Sadie, Sophia, Waylon, Addison, Ty, Theo, Cheyanne, and Abigail.
Sandy is also survived by her siblings Diane, Charlie, Betty Ann, Randy, Norma, and Johnny, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and her parents, Charles Leonard and Betty Jean Byrns, along with her siblings, infant Danny and her beloved Vickie Page.
Today, as we reflect on her life and the multitude of memories she created with us, we celebrate a woman who truly lived life to the fullest. Sandy made her choice to join Larry once more in Heaven. She has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories we carry with us. Rest in peace, dear Sandy.
