Shirley Ann Adcock, a beloved member of her community and family, passed away on May 20, 2025, in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on April 10, 1938, in Indianapolis, where she would go on to form the roots of a life full of cherished memories and lasting connections.
Shirley graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1955, an achievement that marked the beginning of her journey into a world rich with experiences and adventures. Throughout her life, she cultivated a deep appreciation for simple pleasures—enjoying movies, the thrill of staying up late, and relishing the comforting presence of family. A lover of good music and the joys of life, she found comfort in good lighting and the crisp refreshment of ice-cold beer. Golf and tennis were among her pastimes, alongside a profound passion for the arts that resonated through her love for films and television.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Kathi Wade-Hahn; her granddaughter, Cortney Hendress, and her husband, Shea; her grandson, Matt Ennis; her son-in-law, Jerry Ennis and his wife, Cece; and her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Quinn Hendress and Wren, Myles, and Alivia Ennis. Each of them will carry forward the essence of her spirit and the many memories forged over years of laughter and companionship.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Adcock; her daughter, Jacque Ennis; and her brother, Jim Wade. Their absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who cherished her, but Shirley will forever be remembered for the warmth she brought into their lives. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family and friends, and they will treasure the moments that made her life uniquely special.
As we reflect on Shirley's life, we recognize an individual who not only lived for herself but gave so much to others—a nurturing presence, a supporter of dreams, and a connoisseur of life's joyful moments. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
