Suzanne "Sue" Click

Sue was known for Her God-given positive attitude and constant smile. She always looked on the bright side of any situation, finding the silver lining in the darkest of clouds. She was a constant encourager-always ready to pray for anyone in need. She never met a stranger that she could not love. She was much loved by her family and friends.

Sue passed away on June 16, 2026 at University Heights Health and Living, Indianapolis, IN. She left to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a full, adventurous, and joy-filled life.

Sue was born on February 25, 1935 at Coleman Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis to Urban and Helen (Kirsch) Herbertz. She was the second of 9 siblings. She grew up living above her father’s tavern, Shavey's on South Madison Avenue. She held many fond memories of her childhood there with her family.

Sue attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, graduating in 1954. In high school, she worked at Woolworth’s in Fountain Square.

Sue loved the Lord from an early age and after high school pursued a life of service as a nun in the Catholic Church with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd but the Good Lord had a different, more important mission for her: raising 5 kids. During this time, she also worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator and Cardio Trace of Indiana, where she monitored pacemaker patients’ EKGs. She worked at the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, helping those struggling to overcome addictions. She was even a car parts courier! She was up for anything, and no job seemed too difficult.

Sue spent some years living in Oklahoma and Arizona. Her daughter Madeleine, two of her grandchildren and one of her great grandchildren live in Arizona. A big part of Sue's heart has always been there.

Sue lived for many years in Owen County, Indiana where she lived with her good friends Sherry, Bethann (aka Stormy), Corey and her beloved dog Mochi. She was a dedicated member of the Harrison Homemakers Club and even served as their President. Sue was active in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. She was happiest attending church and even taking part in Easter and Christmas Cantatas.

She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved to host family get-togethers and thoroughly enjoyed when her house was full of noise and commotion.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband Jim Click, her brothers Al, Don, Joe, Jerry and sister Elizabeth Herbertz.

She is survived by her sisters Linda (Carl) Livingston, Carol (Frank) Szephegyi and her brother Mike (Kay) Herbertz; Her children Joe (Amy), John (Erla), Madeleine (Dixon) Hill, Dan (Mary Katherine), Wally (Becky), Colleen O'Hair (foster daughter); grandchildren Joe (Jen), Raven, Walt, Troy (Elizabeth), Keegan, Ethan, Quentin, Elizabeth, Kaden, Tanner, Darcy and Elijah and great grandchildren Silas and May.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of St. Croix Hospice for providing excellent care and compassion for Sue during her last days with us.
