Listen to Obituary

Timothy James Finney, known to all who loved him simply as Tim, was a man defined by determination, resilience, and an unwavering sense of pride in everything he undertook. Born on November 9, 1958, Tim devoted his life to hard work, family, and the meticulous care of his home and surroundings, leaving a legacy of strength and steadfast loyalty. On June 5, 2026, we lost a truly remarkable man whose presence was a steady anchor to those who knew him.

Tim’s professional journey is a testament to his dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. Beginning as a House Engineer, Tim rose through the ranks to become Chief Engineer, illustrating not only his technical expertise but his grit and perseverance in the face of every challenge. He took great pride in his career, serving 16 years at Hilton and 20 years at Crown Plaza, where he further distinguished himself by earning pool and spa certified operator credentials and becoming a certificate engineer operations executive. His technical mastery was integral in significant undertakings, including installing communication cables during President Obama's visit and managing major event setups for industry giants like Mobil Oil, Pennzoil, and the NFL Combine. Tim was twice nominated for the distinguished Rose Award, a testament to his commitment and skill that did not go unnoticed. His service included moments of quiet honor, such as manning the elevator for President George Bush Senior, marking the depth of trust placed in him throughout his career.

Beyond his professional accolades, Tim was the embodiment of selflessness and reliability. Known as the most selfless man, he consistently offered help and support without hesitation, never discriminating, but instead recognizing the unique value of every individual he encountered. His loyalty and dependability made him the person you wanted beside you when crises arose. His patience, especially with his grandchildren, spoke to his enduring strength and gentle nature. Tim’s yard and home were extensions of his personality, particular, meticulously maintained, and thoughtfully decorated. His stubbornness was not a flaw but a source of steadfast resolve in the face of adversity, a fighter’s spirit that never surrendered.

Tim’s personal passions were as vivid as his character. A lover of classic cars and rock music, “no rap crap,” as he often insisted, he found joy in the simple and enduring pleasures of life. He was also a devoted fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers, proudly cheering them on through every season. Christmas held a special place in his heart, his favorite holiday by far. For decades, he proudly kept the same Christmas tree adorned with ornaments collected throughout his children’s childhoods and treasured old popcorn strings lovingly crafted by his grandchildren. These traditions showcased his deep commitment to family and the beauty of shared memories.

Tim’s family was his anchor and his pride. He leaves behind his beloved wife Deborah, steadfast partner throughout life’s journey. His sons Brent Jackson and Jason Jackson continue his legacy, and his siblings Paul Finney and Michele Thompson Baker carry forward the family's bond. His grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Garrison McDonald, Jeffery McDonald II, Jason Jackson, and Jaden Jackson, were held close to his heart, each one receiving his patient guidance and unconditional love, as were his great grandchildren Ashlyn, Kieran, Evelyn, Mavis, Niko, Carson, and Rhett.

He was preceded in death by his father Hubert Finney, beloved sister Mary Finney, and his son Jeffery McDonald. Their memories remain intertwined with the strength and determination Tim exemplified throughout his life.

Timothy James Finney’s life was a narrative of hard work, honor, family devotion, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. His legacy is etched not only in the accomplishments he achieved but in the countless lives he impacted through his unwavering kindness, loyalty, and determination. As we gather to celebrate his life, we hold fast to the memory of a man who met every challenge head on, cared for every soul with equal measure, and walked his path with the fierce spirit of a true fighter.

Tim’s story does not end with his passing; it propels us forward to live with the same determination and integrity that he exemplified every day of his remarkable life.

To honor Timothy's dignity and the wishes of his family, no photographs of the deceased will be permitted.
