Timothy Dale Mitchell, born on November 10, 1960, in Indiana, passed away on July 30, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tim lived a life marked by hard work, unwavering loyalty, and deep devotion to his family. With his sharp wit, strong opinions, and genuine kindness, he touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Tim was a proud graduate of Ben Davis High School. Soon after, he served his country honorably in the United States Army, demonstrating the same sense of dedication that would come to define every aspect of his life.
Throughout his accomplished career, Tim excelled as an auto mechanic and earned distinction as an ASE Master Technician. His passion for cars (Pontiacs) extended beyond the garage; an avid drag racing enthusiast, Tim was the 1991 NHRA Division 3 ET Final runner up and secured multiple race wins over the years. Away from the racetrack, he was known for his love of motorcycles, especially riding his Harley, and finding the perfect pizza spot—always paired with an ice cold Coke.
Tim's talents and interests were numerous. He enjoyed playing pool, spending countless hours watching his grandchildren play sports, and relished family gatherings where he could share stories, laughter, and the pizzas he so expertly crafted. Friends and family alike knew that Tim was an excellent cook who took joy in bringing people together over delicious food. One of his favorite pastimes was playing Frisbee with his beloved dog and companion, Paisley Rose, cherishing those simple moments of companionship.
Family was the core of Timothy’s world. He loved deeply and gave selflessly as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Mitchell; sons Joshua (Tiffany) Mitchell and Jeremy (Janay Gray) Mitchell; daughter Ashley (Dustin Dillion) Mitchell; his grandchildren, Christopher (Martina) Smith, Kierra (Nicholas Monks) Mitchell, Kyle Mitchell, Caleb Carey, Caitlyn Carey, Kolton Mitchell, and Kayden Dillion; brother Jerry Mitchell; sister Helen Dougherty; and Paisley Rose Mitchell, his treasured companion. Those who preceded him in death and will be welcoming him with open arms are his mother, Doris Northern; his father, Marvin Mitchell; and his sister, Karen Burns.
To know Tim was to know someone who lived fully, embraced every day with energy and humor, and always put his family first. His hardworking spirit, honesty, and loyalty leave an indelible impression on all who had the privilege to share in his journey. He will be profoundly missed.
A Celebration of Life honoring Tim will be held on August 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Westside Park, 820 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. Family, friends, and all whose lives Timothy touched are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a remarkable man.
