Veda Lee Kennedy

Veda Lee Kennedy, a cherished presence to many, passed away on May 4, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 80. Born on January 8, 1945, in Kentucky, Veda led a vibrant life marked by her indomitable spirit and unwavering strength. As a hair stylist for several years, she owned and operated her own beauty salon, where her talent and dedication to her craft shone brightly.

Veda was known for her hardheadedness and fiery personality, which made her both a formidable force and an absolute delight to those who knew her. Her humor was infectious, and her toughness was legendary—she approached life with a transparency that endeared her to all.

In addition to her career, Veda found joy in various pursuits, including doing yard work, shopping, and, of course, cutting hair. However, her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and fulfillment throughout her life.

Veda is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Kennedy, her son Dennis Boicourt, and her grandchildren: Vince (Alyssa) Prather, Sarah Prather, and PJ Pardue. She relished the role of grandmother to her great-grandchildren: Keaton, Raelyn, Greyson, Lydia, and Elliot.

Veda is preceded in death by her sons George Boicourt and Robert Prather, as well as her daughter Debbie Boicourt, son Doug Boicourt; and her granddaughter, Kelly Boicourt. Each of these individuals held a special place in her heart, and their memories will continue to be cherished by her family.

Veda’s legacy of laughter, love, and resilience will live on in the lives she touched and the family she nurtured. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
